Two Days and Counting

Chris has really gotten into this whole vacation preparation thing. He even stepped up the pressure on ME to pack this weekend, but I held my ground. Determined to put off packing until six minutes before we drive away on Wednesday morning, I busied myself with other, more pressing things, like napping. I have not been completely derelict in my duties, however. I have offered to plan our route. And because I think no great idea should be hid under a bush, I am sharing it on my blog. Here is my plan to get to Grand Teton National Park.
Vacation Route
Oh, yeah, also, we'll take the car. So now that I have taken care of how to get there, maybe Chris will get off my back.

This will be my first real backpacking trip. I've car camped plenty and primitive camped a few times as well, but those were only a few miles from our starting point. The five of us (Chris, his brother- Jake, myself, and the two pups), expect to spend five to seven days traversing the mountains, sleeping under the stars, filtering our own water, cooking over a fire, and whatever else you do when you go to the Tetons and are into being all rugged and not showering. On the way there (an expected sixteen hour drive) we will stop over in Badlands National Park, in South Dakota (so named because of the poor soil quality. Not because anything creepy has ever happened to campers there. I think.)

When we get back, I'll post lots of pictures. Chloe is also coming along to the Tetons, too, although I'm not sure she is up to hiking just yet. I'll be sure to get a lot of car knitting done and maybe I'll even have a sweater to wear when I get back.
