[Insert Clever Title Here]

How has it already been over a week since I last posted? How does Monday become Thursday? The never ending onslaught of school is how. Two kids under the age of three and no sleep, ever, for me is how. Also, gah!

Whew. This has been a tough couple of weeks school-wise. The work is coming fast and hard and I just barely get one project done and I am starting in on another, and there still isn’t enough time. It sort of reminds me of that old Atari video game, “Space Invaders”, where you’re shooting at these alien space ships and as you advance levels, they start coming faster and faster, and if you don’t shoot them, they clobber you and then, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! It’s all over.

On Monday I was sitting in one lecture, madly typing away on a paper that was due in two hours for a different class, while still trying to take notes that would make some sense later. I had to give a presentation that afternoon, and I had spit up on my shirt, and had forgotten to eat breakfast because I was frantically trying to make the printer work, while also trying to track down one @##$% single pair of matching socks and nursing Ella in one arm. Maybe I could create my own video game. Extra points for swishing out cloth diapers in the toilet and not gagging.

Hello friends and family! I have not forgotten you! You’re all still really important to me and I think you’re all quite swell. Except Rosie. Who, apparently does not read my blog, because if she did she would know that having entire ORGANS removed from her body is completely off the table. Because, HELLO. May 15. No catastrophes, illness, or major surgerybefore then. Whatever this little problem is that involves infected gallbladders or whatever can wait.

(Rosie: Yes, yes. I will be at the hospital for the removal of whatever it is that you are feeling is soooooooooooooooo important to come out. But if this is just a way to get one more thing pierced, I’m gonna be pissed.)

On a positive note, GO KATHY! Because, woohoo! Kathy kicks ASS.

Kathy ships out of Texas tomorrow, and is on her sweet way home. To sleep in her own bed, take a shower all by herself, and eat whatever the hell she wants. Like chocolate chip cookies. That I always meant to send while she was in boot camp, then in training, but never actually did, though I fully, truly, intended to, and even once went and picked up a nice cardboard box and said to myself, this is the PERFECT box for Kathy’s care package that I will bake cookies for and send her this very weekend.

(Kathy: So, um… On your way back from the airport tomorrow, swing by the grocery store and pick yourself up something nice. Maybe some of those Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Chip Cookies- the ones that taste like they were home-made. Then put them in your mailbox and act surprised when you pull them back out, because, “Look! Missy intended to send me these!” And be all, “Oh! They’re my favorite!” and also, “How did she KNOW?” Great. Thanks.)

Also, don’t forget to send me a thank you note.

Let’s see. Otherwise, besides the mad-crazy-barely-have-time-to-come-up-for-air pace that we’ve been living, things are generally o.k. Halloween is coming up and I have put exactly zero thought into what I should dress Jay up as. I am thinking right now he should go as a kid whose mom didn’t have a chance to buy or make him a costume. Maybe I could get him a pin that says that, and take him trick or treating while working on one of my projects on the laptop.

Ooooooooorrrrrr…. Maybe I’ll be hitting Target tomorrow.

Ella has officially accomplished smiling. In fact, she is an overachiever. It’s the most heart melting gummy smile you’ll ever see. As it turns out, she has dimples, too. Pictures to follow. At some point. In the mean time, take my word for it. Cute. Seriously.

And speaking of cute, Jay has learned the phrase, “I love you”, and, oh, my god. Every time he says it to me, I swoon. My heart, those dimples, that smile. How did I get so lucky? I think about how good life is with him in it, and look forward to seeing what his little sister has in store for us, too, because, my heart. Those dimples. That smile.

And it is the other side of midnight now, so I'll turn in. I'll try to post some pictures soon of Ella Bella, so check back soon.
